Jesus's Commands

Jesus says that if we love him we will keep his commands (John 14:15).  If we keep his commands, he will give us the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-21).  So, what are his commands?

God's Commands

The purpose of this document is to concisely capture all God’s commands and their applicability as a quick reference for modern-day believers, since God’s commands and their emphasis are widely spread throughout the Bible.  It focuses on commands either directly stated or implied by God through Moses, the prophets, and Jesus.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:1-4) So, what are God’s commands?

Homosexuality

Same-gender sex and cross-dressing are defined as a sinful practices from God’s perspective in the Bible and must be treated as such.  As with any other sins in the bible, God wants people to repent (turn away) from this behavior.  Though Christians are commanded to love their neighbors as themselves, if we encourage people to remain in their homosexuality, then we are encouraging them to remain in sin – rebellion to God.  If God then condemns them to hell for their sin, then those who encouraged them are guilty as well.  Therefore, the greatest love to show toward homosexuals is to turn them away from their sin.  Anyone who participates in homosexuality and cross-dressing must repent (turn away) from sin, believe in Jesus, live for God in order to be saved from hell and go to heaven.

The Sabbath - Should Christians Keep It

While most Christians  profess belief in keeping God's 10 Commandments, most do not keep the 4th commandment, to remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy (Exodus 20:.8-11) . Many believe it to be done away with, along with other Old Testament Laws.  Is this the truth?

Unclean Foods

Many Christians believe that dietary laws in the Bible are not applicable to us today, believing that we are not under God’s law and that Jesus declared all foods clean.  They also point to other writings of Paul to support this view.  Is this really what the Bible teaches?  Did Jesus really intend to abolish the law and allow us to eat any and everything, as long as we pray over it?

God's Hate List

Did you know that God hates?  You may have heard the expression, "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner." Although that is not a biblical statement per se, it has been accepted as a true statement.  However, careful study of scripture does not lead to this conclusion.  A good example of this is found in the following passages from the Bible .
